Creative flare comes and goes in waves. I have found over time that the more you do the more inspiration you have. Much like breastfeeding actually (the more you feed the more milk you have). Sorry to relate sewing to breastfeeding, but there you go. Didn't think it was possible? Think again.
This month my dining table has been constantly covered with projects. Because I have been dabbling in different areas new inspiration springs forth.
Perhaps its something to do with The Sisterhood also. Do you ever find when you are giving it makes you feel good. Good to the core? I find that. Giving actually gives back to me and from it I receive inspiration and joy.
August has seen me in my wool with hooks, fabrics and cottons, paints and cardboard, paper and ribbons. I am loving every moment of it, but also feeling a little overwhelmed with everything I want to accomplish. If only I had more hands.
I have also been missing creating for others. Its been a whole year since I last sold a handmade by me gift. For those of you who didn't know me back then, I used to sell handmade booties and with everyone bought, donated a pair to an african child. That was also fulfilling and completely thrilling but with the arrival of my baby had to shut Stitch Africa down. I love business, I love creating, I love giving. They all work well together.
And you know what? I just can't help myself. In a few weeks I'll be launching my new shop.
It will be an extension of Sophie Slim and relates to everything I do here so hopefully you wont mind too much. Yarn, hooks, colour, babies & love. Thats all :)
I'm working my butt off for this, but its also very exciting.
